What should you not do if a person near you is having a seizure?
- Do not try to forcefully hold in place the person’s arms or legs while they are having a seizure.
- Do not try to use force or hard objects to unclench the person’s jaws. This should not be done even in the event that the person bites their tongue and it starts bleeding.
- Do not pour water over the person during a seizure or try to do mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
- Do not try to wake a child after a seizure by shaking or hitting them, holding pungent liquids or products to their nose or doing anything else to try to “revive” them.
