Mechanotherapeutic rehabilitation simulator MOTOmed layson, bedside (for training the upper and lower extremities)

MOTOmed layson.la is a universal medical simulator that provides training of the arms and legs of patients in passive and active mode, as well as with the support of an electric motor, undergoing treatment in intensive care and early rehabilitation units.

Thanks to the height adjustment and intuitive operation of the MOTOmed, it can be easily and simply adapted to the individual needs of the patient. Thanks to freely rotating casters and an extendable chassis, MOTOmed can be easily installed at the hospital bed and positioned in a space-saving manner. Four-point floor fixation with central locking pedal provides stable support. For leg training, the "TrainCare" device is supplied as an accessory and can be individually adapted to the patient's legs. The knee angle adjustment device allows precise adjustment of the flexion and extension of the knee and hip joints. Adjustments can be made even during training.

Orange controls clearly show users where settings can be made. This means that with just a few movements, the MOTOmed layson.la can be adjusted safely and optimally to the user's individual requirements. The ability to select therapeutic modes, as well as preset therapeutic programs, allows you to carry out effective training safely and independently, thanks to the “Movement Protection” and “Spasm Control” functions.

Programs and training parameters can be easily adjusted using the large color touch display. During the workout, users can see information on the display through various biofeedback metrics, and at the end of the workout, a full overview of the results is shown. The 7" color touchscreen display is intuitive and easy to use, so your workout can start quickly and without complications.

Using a removable operating panel, users can monitor their own training results and make their own adjustments

Main functions (programs):

Landing assistance

• The landing assist feature helps you position your feet in the platform pedals before starting your workout. Using a special button on the control panel, the user can smoothly move the platform pedals to the desired position.

Traffic protection

• If a muscle cramp, spasticity or motor blockade occurs (Freezing), this function stops the movement of the pedals. It does not matter how the basic muscle tension changes; The response threshold of this function does not always remain constant, but automatically adjusts to every change and thus the function always maintains optimal sensitivity. This function is implemented through sensitive sensors in all MOTOmed models.
• Spasticity reduction program
This function works closely with movement protection and can weaken and relieve recognized spasms or cramps. The basis for the development of such a function is the following therapeutic principle: flexion spasticity is relieved by extension, extensor spasticity by flexion. Automatic rotation direction change in the spasticity reduction program can relieve spasms detected by the motion protection function. When a cramp occurs, the engine smoothly stops reciprocating motion. The load is removed from the legs and arms, and after a short pause the direction of rotation smoothly changes. This process is repeated until the cramp is eliminated.
• Servo training / servo rotation

Similar to the motor on an e-bike, the servo-training (legs) or servo-rotation (arms) function in MOTOmed supports the user during active movement. It allows you to train independently in an active mode, even with the most modest reserve of physical strength. Residual muscle forces are recognized and maintained without excessive fatigue.

Symmetrical training

The symmetrical training feature is useful when you need to strengthen your weaker side. The function display varies depending on the model. In the MOTOmed viva2, MOTOmed gracile12 and MOTOmed letto2 models, the user sees from a diagram of 2 bars which part of the effort expended is produced by the left side of the body, and which part by the right. In the MOTOmed muvi model, as well as in the MOTOmed loop edition and MOTOmed layson edition models, this function is displayed as an animated figure. Based on this graphical representation, the user can specifically train his “weaker” side. Thus, symmetrical training prevents overloading the healthy limbs.

Evaluation of training results

All MOTOmed models report different training results to the user. Parameters such as duration, distance, symmetry, energy expended, tone, average and maximum active power, and the ratio of active to passive parts of the workout can be displayed on the screen in real time or as an overall training score.
